Short Term Loans Australia
WHAT ARE SHORT TERM LOANS?
People use short-term loans for a wide range of one-off costs. These are loans that are repaid over a shorter period than a traditional long-term personal loan or mortgage. For example, many short-term loans in Australia can be repaid in as little as 16 days or as long as 24 months, depending on the lender.
At Sure Cash Finance, we are a licensed Australian lender and provide short-term Cash Loans and short-term Personal Loans as follows:
- Our Cash Loans are also known as Small Amount Credit Contract (SACC) loans and range from $300 to $2,000.
- Our Personal Loans, known as Medium Amount Credit Contract (MACC) loans, cover loan amounts from $2,001 to $5,000.
Every application to Sure Cash Finance is individually assessed under our responsible lending obligations, regardless of the loan length or amount.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Any Australian, aged 18 or over, with a regular income may apply for short-term loans. Income can come from wages, self-employment or eligible government payments. This can include:
- Loans for People on Centrelink (such as those receiving JobSeeker payments, Disability Support Pension payments, Carer payments, and Parenting payments)
When applying for short-term loans, bear in mind that all applications are assessed individually in accordance with responsible lending guidelines and approval is never guaranteed or automatic.

AMOUNTS AND TERMS
As short-term lenders in Australia, we understand that everyone’s financial circumstances are different. Sure Cash Finance offers two specific loan options ranging from $300 to $5,000:
- Cash Loans – also known as Small Amount Credit Contract (SACC) loans. These loans are fully unsecured (no collateral required) and range from $300 to $2,000. The repayment terms can vary from 16 days to 12 months.
- Personal Loans – also known as Medium Amount Credit Contract (MACC) loans. These cover loan amounts from $2,001 to $5,000 and have a repayment period up to 12 months. Whether an MACC loan requires security is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Some applicants can obtain an unsecured loan within this range, while others will need to provide security.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
Your Cash Loan (Small Amount Credit Contract – from $300 to $2,000) fees consist of an establishment fee of up to 20% of the loan amount plus a monthly fee of up to 4% of the loan amount.
Here is a loan example:
For a $1,000 loan over 6 months, the establishment fee would be up to $200 and the monthly fee up to $40 per month – a maximum total cost of $440 over the loan term.
Your Personal Loan (Medium Amount Credit Contract – from $2,001 to $5,000) fees consist of a $400 establishment fee, which is flat regardless of the loan amount, plus interest at 48% per annum.

FAQ’S
What Is a Short Term Loan?
These are loans that are repaid over a shorter period than a mortgage or longer-term personal loan. Short-term loans in Australia can be repaid in as little as 16 days or as long as 24 months, depending on the lender and the amount being borrowed. These loans are regulated by ASIC, and short-term lenders in Australia must hold an Australian Credit Licence.
How Much Can I Borrow with a Short Term Loan?
There are two types of regulated short-term loans:
- Small Amount Credit Contract (SACC) loans from $300 to $2,000. These have typical repayment terms ranging from 16 days to 12 months.
- Medium Amount Credit Contract (MACC) loans from $2,001 to $5,000. Terms can vary from 16 days to 24 months, depending on the lender.
Is a Short Term Loan the Same As a Payday Loan?
A short-term loan broadly refers to any loan paid back relatively quickly (as opposed to a more traditional personal loan). While payday loans fall under the general category of short-term loans, not all short-term loans are payday loans.
Regarding payday loans, Sure Cash Finance is a licensed Australian credit provider (ACL 390591) operating under responsible lending laws, rather than an unregulated payday lender.
Payday loans are regulated as Small Amount Credit Contract (SACC) loans with terms from 16 days to 12 months.
