What Is an Unsecured Personal Loan?
To understand unsecured personal loans in Australia, it’s best to start with their opposite: the secured loan. A secured loan requires you to provide an asset as security in order to get your loan approval over the line. This security could be your car or even your home. If you can no longer make your repayments on a secured loan, the lender is permitted to repossess and sell your asset to recoup the money owed. On the other hand, unsecured loans do not require you to provide an asset when borrowing.
At Sure Cash Finance, we offer two types of loans:
- Cash Loans – also known as Small Amount Credit Contract (SACC) loans. These short-term loans range from $300 to $2,000. This is an unsecured personal loan (subject to our online approval process).
- Personal Loans – also known as Medium Amount Credit Contract (MACC) loans. These cover loan amounts from $2,001 to $5,000. Sometimes, our Personal Loans require no security, and sometimes we do require them to be secured against an asset.
Whether or not security is needed for Personal Loans from $2,001–$5,000 will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. This is based on your income, expenses and financial circumstances, not your asset ownership, and is done in accordance with our responsible lending practices.

Loan Amounts and Terms
What are your needs? Are you looking for a personal loan requiring no collateral? Or a Centrelink personal loan? Because everyone’s financial circumstances are different, Sure Cash Finance offers two specific options ranging from $300 to $5,000:
- Cash Loans – also known as Small Amount Credit Contract (SACC) loans. These loans are unsecured (no collateral required) and range from $300 to $2,000. The repayment terms can vary from 16 days to 12 months.
- Personal Loans – also known as Medium Amount Credit Contract (MACC) loans. These cover loan amounts from $2,001 to $5,000 and have a repayment period up to 24 months.
There are no early repayment fees for either loan type. Whether security is needed for Personal Loans of $2,001 to $5,000 is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Some applicants can obtain an unsecured loan within this range, while others will need to provide security.
You can open our online loan calculator and enter the amount you’d like to borrow so you can see the exact weekly or fortnightly repayment amounts before applying.
What Does It Cost?
Your Cash Loan (Small Amount Credit Contract) fees consist of an establishment fee of up to 20% of the loan amount plus a monthly fee of up to 4% of the loan amount.
Here is a loan example:
For a $1,000 loan over 6 months, the establishment fee would be up to $200 and the monthly fee up to $40 per month, with a maximum total cost of $440 over the loan term.
Your Personal Loan (Medium Amount Credit Contract, from $2,001 to $5,000) fees consist of a $400 establishment fee, which is flat regardless of the loan amount, plus interest at 48% per annum.
There are no hidden fees for either loan type and no early repayment penalties. See our full fee and cost breakdown.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does ‘unsecured’ mean – do I need a guarantor or security?
‘Unsecured’ refers to loans that do not require any collateral (such as a car or home) to get the loan approved. In such cases, a lender looks at your overall creditworthiness, assessing factors such as your income, financial history, employment stability, and debt-to-income ratio before making a decision.
Do you need a guarantor or security? For an unsecured loan, no guarantor is needed, and no asset is required for security.
How much can I borrow with an unsecured personal loan from Sure Cash Finance?
That depends on your circumstances. We have two loan types. The first is a Cash Loan (Small Amount Credit Contract). This loan is unsecured (no collateral required) and ranges from $300 up to $2,000.
The second loan type is a Personal Loan (Medium Amount Credit Contract), which covers amounts from $2,001 to $5,000. Whether security is needed for this type of loan is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Some applicants can obtain an unsecured loan within this range, while others will need to provide security.
Can I get an unsecured personal loan with bad credit?
It might be possible. As an inclusive lender, Sure Cash Finance considers your bigger financial picture. We assess your ability to repay based on your income, expenses and financial circumstances (such as employment stability), rather than simply based on what assets you own.
All applications are individually assessed. Approval is not guaranteed. As an Australian Credit License holder (ACL 390591), Sure Cash Finance is required by law to assess your ability to repay before approving any loan.
